At Ride Right, our employees and customers are our most valuable asset. We take every available step to ensure their safety through a comprehensive safety program that is built on the principals of eliminating risk behaviors. By involving all employees from all areas of our corporation, including our service providers, we can synergize our approach to safety. By identifying and eliminating risk behaviors, we can control collisions, injuries, and other types of losses and ensure the safety and satisfaction of our customers and clients.
Driver Safety
At Ride Right, we have one of the most comprehensive driver screening procedures in the transit industry. All of our drivers are carefully screened before hiring and drivers’ credentials are continually monitored for compliance throughout their employment. This process includes DMV record review, criminal record reviews, employee physicals, substance abuse testing, and reference checks. In addition, our drivers complete a comprehensive classroom and behind the wheel curriculum of study. This training includes:
- Classroom instruction on Safety Policy, Procedures, and Programs
- Classroom instruction on ADA, Passenger Assistance, and Customer Service
- Classroom instruction on Defensive Driving
- Classroom instruction on Preventing Harassment
- Classroom instruction on Substance Abuse and Security
- Behind the wheel training on Closed Course Maneuvers
- Behind the wheel training on the road
- Cadet training
- Proper paperwork documentation
Vehicle Safety
The Ride Right preventative maintenance program ensures that all vehicles are kept on a stringent schedule of inspections. This process keeps the vehicles in safe, mechanical condition. In addition, all drivers must complete a Pre-Trip Inspection prior to starting their daily trips. The Pre-Trip Inspection ensures a daily vehicle inspection is completed and any problems or potential problems are documented and corrected by the maintenance department.
Safety Audits and Inspections
The Ride Right auditing and inspection program ensures that all elements of our Safety and Training program are adhered to and drivers are in compliance. Any audit deficiencies are documented in an action plan for correction and follow up action plan dates are established with any safety issues resolved immediately.
